I served in the Fire Protection Field from April 1946 thru August 1975 (except for the one year I served as 1st Sgt for CES at Nellis, AFB).
I first served as Fire Chief at JFHA, Japan and subsequenly at Williams, NKP & Andrews (1972--1975). Retired as an E-9 at Andrews after 29 yrs, 7 months and 29 days.

I was drafted 5 Dec 1945. I started my fire protection career on the docks in Iceland with a 1000 GPM trailer mounted Pump--it was called a 1000 GPM pumper--pulled behind a weapons carrier--didn't know what a fire hydrant was (all my experience was drafting from the ocean) until I got to Kelly Field, TX. I done the Climate Hanger thing at Eglin--I was there when it partial burned in 54 or 55 I forget which. We'll compare notes one of these rainy days when we are loafing.
